DONNA RAMOS,
RN, BSN, MPA

Donna Ramos has been involved in a variety of roles in the health care system in Santa Cruz County for 40 years. Her earliest work included the startup of the Caring Project, which was a group of nurses volunteering to care for people who chose to die at home. That project has evolved into the current Hospice of Santa Cruz County.

She was a nurse leader at Watsonville Community Hospital and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Donna brings a collaborative approach to her work and as a result has been involved with many of the County, public and private health care organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors for what was then called the Hospice Caring Project and the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust, the Advisory Board for Sutter Health, and numerous multidisciplinary teams across the County.

In 2002, Donna was hired to implement a federal Healthy Communities Access Program (HCAP) grant to create a collaborative group of health care leaders who would work together to solve locale health care issues in Santa Cruz County. This partnership was eventually incorporated as the Health Improvement Partnership in 2004.
