National Health Center Week 2017
The Health Improvement Partnership and Safety Net Clinic Coalition of Santa Cruz County (SNCC) unveiled the 5-year Impact Report 2012-2016 in a local celebration of National Health Center Week. The event featured presentations and a roundtable discussion with Safety Net Clinic leaders and County Supervisor John Leopold.
In honor of National Health Center Week, the Health Improvement Partnership of Santa Cruz County (HIP) hosted a press luncheon on Tuesday, August 15th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at East Cliff Family Health Center. The Safety Net Clinic Coalition’s Five-Year Impact Report was unveiled.
Over a decade, SNCC members have expanded services and facilities to serve more than one in three residents in Santa Cruz County. SNCC’s Five-Year Impact Report highlights the clinic organization’s accomplishments to increase access to high quality, affordable healthcare to all. According to Leslie Conner, Executive Director of Santa Cruz Community Health Centers, "The SNCC report showcases the tremendous local investment made to implement the Affordable Care Act. It represents the hard work, leadership, and commitment of the entire local health care system to serve more people in better ways than ever before. We've come a long way, but we're not done yet!" Health centers not only prevent illness and foster wellness in the most challenging populations, they reach beyond the walls of conventional medicine to address the factors that may cause sickness, such as lack of nutrition, mental illness, homelessness and opioid addiction.
National Health Center Week 2017 takes place August 13-19. Our community will join thousands of communities across the nation to recognize and celebrate the innovative work of Safety Net Health Centers. To learn more about NHCW and the listing of events please visit: www.healthcenterweek.org.
